Building Rubber Profiles

A building rubber profile or rubber window seal is a strip of rubber, which is placed between glass and window frame to minimize noises and gas permeation. By using rubber in this form it allowed window or door panes to fit perfectly into their frames. It is also used to isolate vibration from the movement of windows and building.

As an interface buffer, structural gaskets must incorporate these features:
  • Excellent in sunlight ageing
  • Excellent in compression set
  • Good in Weather resistance
  • Good in Ozone resistance
  • Good in Oil and Petrol resistance

Manufacturing process
  • Preparation of Rubber Compound

  • Mixing is carried out on a two-roll mill or in an internal mixer. In the case of an internal mixer, it can be done in a single-stage or double-stage mixing where the masterbatch, which was earlier prepared in the internal mixer, is finalized by adding curatives on a two-roll mill.

  • Determination of scorch time and cure characteristics and physical testing
(e.g. hardness, tensile properties, tear resistance, flex-cracking resistant, ozone resistance etc.)

  • All the above properties are required before going to the subsequent processes such as moulding, extrusion, etc.

  • Preparation of rubber strips

  • Rubber is cut into strips for extrusion process

  • Shaping and curing of the gaskets

  • Rubber Strips were feed into extruder with appropriate die, then follows by vulcanisation process via hot air tunnel or microwave

  • Gasket is cut according to the size required
