The Potential Market in Malaysia
There are places identified to install the NR
road humps, among which are school entrance, hospitals and parking
entrance in hotels or shopping complexes. As for potential market
in Kuala Lumpur vicinity, there are about 290 primary and secondary
schools, 76 hotels and 8 government hospitals: two road humps can
be installed at each place; one at the entrance and another one
at the exit.
Based on Market Development and Promotion Unit’s
observation, within Mid Valley Mega Mall area, one of the largest
shopping center in Kuala Lumpur, they are already 46 strips of road
humps which was installed at parking lots. The management should
install more road humps because the current ones are insufficient.
The other prospective user is PLUS Highway. The 800km highway has
79 interchanges, where NR road humps can be installed upon reaching
the toll gates at each interchange. There can also be promoted to
other highway concessionaires such as Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong,
Second Link, KESAS Highway, New Pantai Expressway, Lebuhraya Pantai
Timur and others.
The next target market includes the municipal
authorities, parking-lot operators and organizations involved with
road safety, seeking means to enforce car speed limits at critical
traffics zones, usually in urban areas. The local traffic authorities
must be responsible for the design and placement of road humps.
Rubber road humps was designed to give a smooth ride to drivers
who obey speed limits. Currently, road hump are used at residential
areas, shopping complex parking lots and small roads. Those products
have good potential market in Malaysia. Rubber road hump must be
promoted to all states in Malaysia through municipalities / government
agencies / authorities concerned either big town or small town.
The current entire old road hump must be replaced with the NR road
humps.
Prospects
Road humps have been extensively used throughout
identified areas as a measure to reduce the high level of personal
injury accident at identifies hotspots. The road humps should be
installed at the core zone which that area has increased pedestrian
and non-motorised transport activity and more turning movements.
The safety counter measures in this region are used to either visually
or physically enforce lower speed and to remind drivers of the danger
arising, e.g. schools, junctions, etc. They also must be located
where there is a need for pedestrians to cross and ensure low speeds.
The aim is to increase pedestrian conspicuity to drivers.
